The North Face has eliminated extraneous elements in their attempt to eliminate weight from this technical rain jacket. It still ends up being slightly heavier than some made by other manufacturers, but I've found that it fits better and keeps out rain better. The hood does in fact stow away, but you have to figure out how to correctly use the little black loop on the inside of the jacket.

I bought my first Feather Lite many years ago while searching for the lightest weight water & wind proof which packs small for 2 day mountain marathons. This jacket was amazingly light and robust (while running with back pack) and pushed to its limits in many races over many years in all sorts of weather in Ireland, UK and other parts of the world. It's difficult to really give a view of breathability review especially while running with backpack, but my many fond memories convinced me to buy a replacement. The days of 2 day mountain marathons are onhold but I still get some great wear from my new Feather Lite. It's a great product.

this is about as light as you can get for a waterproof running jacket. it has taped seams, minimal drawstring/zipper hardware, a bit of reflective detail, and no pockets. the pockets are not a huge deal for me most of the time, because i usually run with my phone and i would never put it in a jacket pocket anyway because it would bounce like crazy. i put the phone in a spibelt with my keys. i havent weighed it and cant find its weight anywhere online but i'd guess under 2oz. ive ran for about an hour in medium-light rain and i'd say it did pretty well in keeping me dry. towards the end of the run it was definitely a bit damp and not feeling super breathable anymore though. aftewards i put it in front of a room fan and it dried extremely fast because its so thin. also its advertised that the hood stows away but this is not the case. the hood doesnt stow away at all but it does have a drawstring on it to tighten the fit.

overall it has a few flaws but i still love it because its pretty close to a perfect lightweight running shell for me.

I think the men's feather lite storm blocker is a follow on to the men's Light Verto jacket, which I have one ... it is even orange too. I love it.

I loved the Verto jacket because it is just perfect, including having chest pocket which allows me to wrap up the jacket into itself to about the volume of a tennis ball that scrunches in any shape - and the lack of that pocket is what gives me a problem with the feather lite

The feather lite jacket has no pocket, so those of us who are not running marathons in the rain and prefer to listen to our iPhones or MP3 players are just out of luck, or we have to run cables up through the jacket from somewhere else which negates the plusses of having the jacket.

I think it is a bad tradeoff not to have a pocket, although the Feather Lite has a hood cinch which the Verto did not have and was a problem in a strong wind.

North Face, can you please manufacture a nice super-lite jacket like this that folds up into its own pocket, that has a hood cinch, and a pocket?

These kinds of jackets are really great. Half the time you go outside and think you need a jacket, all you really need is a light wind-proof shell that can work with a technical tee-shirt or a sweater. You feel better, have more flexibility, do not overheat and can layer and unlayer more easily ... the concept here is really great. This and a wool undergarment will keep you well warm in even very cold weather - and feeling good and flexible.

I just cannot highly recommend this because of the lack of a pocket, otherwise it would be perfect. Also, in memory of the Verto jacket, I really loved how it was translucent - I always get a lot of questions and compliments on it, plus it is useful constantly. Stylish too.
