Comments about TheNorthFace CINDER PACK 32:

The Cinder 40 and the Cinder 55 should win all the awards for best crag pack this year--bombproof, stand alone, awesome haul handle and haul loops, and just overall beefy. Unfortunately, the 32 has a drop in quality. The issue is a small seam at the bottom of the padding on your back that will rub you raw. The padding on the 40 and the 55 drops off at a cant at the bottom so as not to rub while still maintaining adequate padding for the lower back. But the 32's padding goes straight down and ends in a seam that rubs the lower back right above your belt. Sure, replace the waistbelt with just webbing because it's a smaller pack, but these packs are so beefy that I'd even say keep the waistbelt because who cares about the extra x ounces for a real waistbelt. Hopefully, TNF will change the mistake for the next pack edition and have no seam at the bottom and end the padding at an angle rather than straight onto your belt. Again though, the 40 and 55 are the bes packs I've seen in a while for their described beefy use.

Comments about TheNorthFace CINDER PACK 32:

Everyone wants simpicity. This is it --- simple, simple, simple, but tough, tough, tough. This North Face 32L pack has become my new favorite sack for rock climbing and even more so for backcountry skiing. Perfect side straps for carrying skis, no extra loops or gadgets to snag on poles, tailgates, trees or anything else. But the best thing of all? It's absolutely bomb proof, totally like a mini haul bag with shoulder straps and ski straps. Materials appear to be the same as those used in making the legendary TNF duffel bag. At $119 you cannot beat this sack for its simplicity and toughness.
