United to Move the World Forward
For more than 50 years, we have been led by our purpose to lead the world forward through exploration—an action capable of uniting and lifting us as both individuals and members of this global community. While our ability to enjoy the outdoors is rightly at a standstill, the people, places and organizations who enable exploration around the world are facing an unprecedented challenge.
Through our social impact and advocacy platform the Explore Fund, we are committing $1 million to support the outdoor communities all over the world that make exploration possible. We will work closely with national and local outdoor officials to allocate funds where the need is most critical immediately and throughout the recovery.
In addition, we are leveraging our global network and supply chain to uncover other impactful ways to aid those fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. We have committed to donating 60,000 gloves to our healthcare professionals and first responders, providing critical supplies to thousands working on the front line in our own backyard of Colorado.
Out of concern for the health and safety of our associates, we made the decision to keep our North American stores closed through May 21, while continuing to provide full pay and benefits to all retail workers. Now, as our community adapts to the new normal, we are listening to local government recommendations and taking first steps toward reopening select retail locations throughout the U.S. From limiting store hours so we can clean and reset, to creating new sanitization stations, our stores are now equipped with increased measures to help keep you safe, so you can get out and explore again.
As the battle against COVID-19 continues and its impact deepens, we will continue to explore other ways to support our frontline workers and those affected by the crisis. You can learn more about these efforts here. We’re hopeful for the day when we’ll be back out there, together.
