There are two main types of jacket insulation:

Common fill powers range from 550 to 900.

Synthetic Insulation: These winter jackets use man-made fibers, such as polyester, to mimic the properties of natural down. Synthetic insulation performs better when wet compared to down and is often hypoallergenic. However, it's generally slightly heavier and less compressible.
