This is a great pack for travel, especially the "Checkpoint Friendly", (TSA compliant) lay-flat feature for your laptop: No need to remove it or your tablet for the conveyor belt trip through x-ray to get banged around, damaged or worse. It has enough room to hold books, a portfolio, laptop charger, etc. and has enough room as a carry-on for the essentials of a quick overnight trip. The laptop compartment is suspended above the bottom of the bag and also has extra padding at the bottom. It holds my 17" laptop with some room to spare. I decided on the dark blue color instead of the black model after seeing it at the store; It presents a nice professional appearance for the office. The dual front pockets are perfect for a fleece jacket, gloves and a travel umbrella. The front organizer section has everything you need including two pockets with zippers. I also like the option of stowing away the waist belt when it's not needed. The zippers are heavy-duty and are covered with either rain flaps or are of the water resistant variety.

If The Northface were to add a stretch pass-through sleeve to the back panel to allow a traveller to slip it over the handle of your wheeled luggage or carry-on, it would be the perfect pack!

This Router TSA Backpack is a bit smaller for my 17 in Dell laptop.
The thin strap (handle) at the top is NOT a comfortable design. Even a cheaper TARGUS backpabck puts a round handle that is a far more comfortable design to hold the backpack when needed. Maybe, you can add this feature in future designs.

I bought this backpack as a gift for my boyfriend for Valentine's Day. He loves it! It is very roomy and holds a lot of stuff. He uses it going back and forth to work and carries his uniform in it. Great compartment for a laptop and an iPad. I got it in the grey color and it is even nicer in person.

Comments about TheNorthFace ROUTER TRANSIT BACKPACK:

Although i have not tried putting heavy items in this pack. I use it everyday walking to and from the gym 2.8km (1.7ish miles). Its winter and the pack stays watertight. The zippers are solid and there are lots of compartments for me to hold spare gear (balaclava, ski goggles, hand warmers) just in case. The lumbar support is great, I never thought having that support would make such a difference! One of the first purchases I've made but its always nice to know you have life time warranty. Can't wait to use this in the fall for schooling. Plus lets be honest this is a very very good looking (sexy) pack.

Comments about TheNorthFace ROUTER TRANSIT BACKPACK:

This backpack does it all!!! This slim beast works well for putting my computer in it. The backpack itself is extremely durable and very water resistant which is very important living in the Seattle area. This pack also holds my 4 textbooks and it surprisingly distributes the weight evenly so my back doesn't hurt. There are 3 small zipper pockets accessed on the face of the pack there is only one zipper on these pockets. There are 3 main zipper compartments each have double zippers to ensure all OCD people out there like myself can either leave it at the top and zip it together or move it to the sides like I do. The first zipper is used to sort the small but important things in life; keys, wallet, pencils, chargers, pocket knife etc. The second compartment looks as though it could be small however it is extremely large. Finally the last compartment is used to store your electronics like your computer and even has a tablet sleeve the computer compartment is padded very well to insure that the laptop doesn't move and it stays in one piece. The adjustability for the straps is a plus too. This a fairly large pack just saying all you smaller people out there might consider a Borealis because I'am 6'4" and this pack fits just right on the settings I currently have it on. I have also used this pack for more of recreational use. Ive hiked in this backpack and it is extremely light weight I love how there many places to strap the bag to make sure nothing falls out and it stays on so I don't have to adjust it while walking, climbing or jumping. The zippers are also heavy duty I have never had a problem zipping it up even when I had stuffed it full it unzips and zips perfectly. I also like the zipper guards its a nice and elegant touch to a great pack. I have yet to use this for extreme sports such as dirt biking or airsofting but I plan to use it for that as well it would work very well being secure while you are flying around or shooting it up. All in all a excellent pack for everyday use, recreational use, and business use. The only thing i might add is a second water bottle holder.

Comments about TheNorthFace ROUTER TRANSIT BACKPACK:

The router backpack is a really nice backpack. It has a lot of space, and a lot of organization capabilities. One problem that I really dislike however is the packs tendency to fall down when set in the upright position. It rolls down onto the side with all of the pockets leaving the straps up. This makes it necessary to always pick up the backpack, flip it up and then get into the compartments. Otherwise you always have to leave it leaned up against something so it doesn't fall over, or you can leave it on the table with the straps down (which is not logical due to space constraints).

My husband absolutely loves his Router TSA backpack. He travels a lot so the laptop component (being able to unzip all the way) is a huge plus for him. I do wish you still offered the pack in the heathered gray though.
