About White Vests at The North Face
Vests can be worn any time of the year, but are especially ideal for spring and fall when the temperatures are cooler and weather can vary. Unlike a full coat, a vest helps keep your core warm without restricting movement or causing you to overheat. While any color vest is a great option, white is particularly popular for several reasons:
White looks crisp and intentional. It can elevate simple basics like black leggings, blue jeans, and grey sweats.
White pops but remains neutral. It easily matches other colors but pops when paired with black, charcoal, and earthy tones.
White gives après-ski vibes. Even if you're nowhere near a mountain, in winter, a white vest gives a sporty, premium look.
That said, there may be a few times when white isn't the best choice. White can show collar makeup, coffee and food splashes, general dust, and backpack strap grime.
If most of your layers are dark, you like clean looks, you are planning to wear a vest in the city or light outdoor use, and you're okay with spot-cleaning, a white vest is a great choice. If you hate maintenance, mud is a possibility, you'll be around kids and pets, or you need something that can stand the test of time and the outdoors, choose another color.
If you choose a white puffer vest like one of our Aconcagua vests, pair it with a black hoodie or a black baselayer plus black or dark jeans or leggings.
A white fleece vest goes well with earthy-toned pants like olive green.
If you want to create an overall elevated neutral look, pair a white vest with oatmeal, stone, and grey layers.
