Après-Ski Apparel

Après ski is a French phrase that means "after ski".  It originated in the Alps in the 1950s and today refers to the various social activities skiers and snowboarders engage in after a day on the slopes.  Typical après ski gatherings take place in slopeside bars and restaurants and outdoor areas at resorts while some can be private events.  

When thinking of your outfit for après ski think "after skiing party".  Many people opt to wear some of the same ski clothing they wore that day on the slopes.  This a perfectly acceptable choice for hanging out at a nearby bar or restaurant.  For events where slightly dressier attire may be better, think comfy wear that still evokes the winter snow theme.  Boots (maybe with faux fur), sweaters over leggings or paired with snow bibs, puffer vests, cable knit beanies or earbands, and fleece pullovers are great options for both indoor and outdoor venues.
