Brittany Charboneau

Clayton Boyd 2022-11-07 The North Face Athlete Summit 3002 Brittany Charboneau

DENVER, COLORADO

Brittany Charboneau, known as "The Funny Runner," is celebrated for her unique blend of athleticism and humor. A trained comedian and improv performer, having studied at The Second City and The Annoyance Theater in Chicago, Brittany uses acting and comedy to run faster. She themes each race and many of her training blocks—dropping into a new character each time. But don’t let the costumes fool you—Brittany and each of her characters are out there to win.

“I thought I had to have a beard and live in a camper to be a trail runner. But then I found out I could be myself, with my costumes and nails, and still belong…and still win.”

Brittany has been running since middle school. From track racing in high school to marathon running after college, she’s continuously in forward motion.  Sidelined from road racing during COVID, Charboneau turned to the trails to continue her training for the Olympic Marathon trials. She made an impressive debut by winning the Pikes Peak Marathon, a race known for its challenging ascents and descents. This victory, along with significant FKT’s on trails around Denver, marked a significant achievement in her transition from road to trail running.

“I don't want to look back on my career and be like, ‘I wish I had more fun”

A self-proclaimed late bloomer, Brittany found her stride in the trails. She never considered herself to be “outdoorsy” yet feels most at home within the mountain community. Charboneau aims to inspire others to "own their weird" and find joy in their unique paths. Charboneau amplifies her contributions to the running community as a coach, proudly sharing her expertise and passion with aspiring athletes.
