About The North Face Men's Parkas

Parkas are longer coats (thigh length or longer) built for cold weather.  Their longer length reduces drafts and helps keep your core and upper legs warmer.   They are a perfect combination of practicality and warmth with big pockets, adjustable hoods, room for layering, and increased body coverage.

One of our best-selling men's parkas year after year is the McMurdo Parka.  It is waterproof and windproof, yet breathable to keep you comfortable.  The hood is adjustable with removable faux-fur. Features like a stormflap that covers the front zipper, sealed seams, and adjustable cuff tabs help keep moisture out so you stay dry even in snowy conditions.  It's the perfect companion for commuting and exploring.

For a premium performance parka, look no further than the Summit Series Himalayan Down Parka.  It has numerous features that make it an ideal mountaineering jacket including climbing helmet-compatible hood, proprietary CLOUD DOWN construction to help reduce cold spots, and 800-fill ProDown™ insulation that dries faster than untreated down.

  • When temperatures are consistently cold

  • In windy weather when temperatures are cold

  • During winter when you plan to be outside for long periods

  • In snow and sleet when extra coverage is key

Down insulation has a great warmth-to-weight ratio and can be highly compressible.  Performance can decline when soaked.

Synthetic insulation offers better warmth when damp and is often easier to care for.  It can be bulkier, however.
