Men's Tops

Men's shirts at The North Face range from technical designs for specific outdoor activities to casual styles intended for everyday wear - and most are versatile enough for both.  Take, for example, our graphic tees.  They're great for the trail and for weekends around town.  When shopping our men's tops, consider the season and intended use.

• Short Sleeve Tees:  Our t-shirts are by-far our most versatile men's shirts.  Whether you choose the classic Dome tees or the "box fit" Evolution tees, they can be worn alone or layered under hoodies and vests on hikes and climbs as well as on campus, vacation, and around the home.  Their comfortable soft feel and relaxed fit are ideal for range of motion and long periods of wear.  Many feature our classic Half Dome logo and some have nature-inspired designs that are updated every season.  They also make excellent gifts.

   

• Long Sleeve Tees:  When you want comfort and versatility but the weather is cooler, choose a long sleeve t-shirt.  Like our short sleeve styles, many have our Half Dome logo and are made from a blend of recycled and cotton fabrics for comfort and a soft feel.  Long sleeve tees are ideal for hiking and chilly camping nights and can easily be layered under one of our vests.

   

• Button Down and Polo Shirts:  When you want a more elevated look, choose one of our button-down or polo shirts.  Our buttoned styles are also great for camping or everyday while our polos can be worn as golf shirts.  They are also excellent choices for travel and can be layered over a short sleeve tee.

   

• Performance Shirts:  Our activewear is made with fabric that features technology like moisture-wicking to help keep you dry.  Pair with our shorts, joggers, or leggings for your next trail run or trip to the gym. 

   

• Hoodies & Sweatshirts:  Our hoodies and sweatshirts are ideal for layering over other shirts on cold days, but can just as easily be worn as a single layer thanks to their soft feel (particularly the inside of some of our crewneck styles).  You'll see them just about anywhere from the airport to your hometown, from the college campus to the mountainside.  Many feature the classic TNF logo and/or nature designs and are available in pullover, full zip, half zip, and quarter zip styles.

• Layering:  The ability to add and remove layers is key when exploring the outdoors.  Changing temperatures, weather, and level of activity can all lead to be warmer or cooler.  When looking at shirts for outdoor activities like climbing, hiking, and running, consider if they can be layered over or under other items.  Tees are great for layering under hoodies or button-down shirts.  Performance tees can also be worn under hoodies when your workout is complete.

   

• Sun Protection (UPF):  We offer apparel and hats with UPF to help protect you from the sun's harmful rays.  UPF of 30+ is good while 50+ is considered excellent.  

   

• Fit and mobility:  A relaxed fit shirt allows for easier movement and more airflow, but could get in the way depending on your chosen activity.  If mobility is key but a loose fit isn't ideal, look for performance tops with more fitted styles with underarm gussets.

   

• Dark vs. Light colors:  Lighter colors reflect more sunlight, but also help you be seen easier particularly in low light situations.  Darker colors do absorb more heat, but are also often more effective at blocking UV rays.  

   

• Moisture-Wicking and Odor Resistance:  With activity comes sweat.  Choose shirts with moisture-wicking technology and odor resistance to help you stay dry, cool, and comfortable.
