Sage Cattabriga-Alosa

When someone identifies their favorite skier in one name, it’s most likely “Sage”. The moment Sage Cattabriga-Alosa’s signature long locks fly through the air and across the screen—as they have each fall for over 20 years—ski film audiences turn it up a decibel. Fans appreciate his humble free-spirit, happy-go-lucky personality and smooth style no matter how complex the descent, but it’s Sage’s creativity—the unique way he reads the mountain—that’s earned him a place among skiing’s legends.
Having starred in more than 30 ski films, won four coveted Powder Awards and skied more lines in Alaska than probably any pro skier, Sage can look back on one of the most successful ski careers in the business, but that would imply he’s slowing down. And even with young twin daughters, he’s as motivated to progress his skiing—and mountain biking—as ever.
Growing up, Sage spent his winters in Alta, Wyoming attempting to become a ski racer at Grand Targhee, but eventually giving into the powder. He moved to Oregon after high school and met professional skier Chris Collins who convinced him to move to Little Cottonwood Canyon, Utah. As one of the more famous coming-of-age stories in skiing, Sage started washing dishes at The Peruvian and skiing Alta every day. In 2001, after helping a Teton Gravity Research film crew build a gap jump in at Pyramid Gap, Sage threw and landed a massive double front flip on his first attempt that turned the heads of TGR founders, Todd and Steve Jones. It landed him his first film segment in TGR’s, Mind the Addiction, and he unofficially blazed onto the scene with his Metallica-infused 2003 segment in TGR’s, High Life. He went on to demonstrate a mastery of BC pillows, large Alaskan spines, soulful slo-mo powder and more, all the while throwing progressive tricks with unmatched style.
Almost twenty years later, he’s still headlining TGR films, but he’s also doing his own thing. In 2018 and 2020, he released two ski and bike films, Elemental and Balance, which explore the human experience and relationship with the natural world. Showing audiences that he’s almost as talented on two wheels as he is on skis, and showcasing his friends doing the same. Driven by creativity, Sage—who studied fine art in college—has also spearheaded unique projects like his immersive multimedia story, the “Experience Sage Project”, which captured Sage skiing through digital art projected onto Grand Targhee Resort. He’s designed apparel, ski graphics, goggle art and backpack art with The North Face.
