FREESKIER / SLOPESTYLE + HALFPIPE
DEVIN LOGAN
Devin Logan grew up skiing with “the boys” - her brothers, to be precise. Starting at age two, Devin chased her brothers around Mt. Snow, Vermont, then into the park and pipe, and eventually to contests all over the world. (Side note: Devin’s brothers are also professional skiers). While many families may claim to be “skiing families,” the Logans take that notion to the next level.
Always a talented skier, at 15, Devin began her path to professional skier stardom. While her high school peers were worried about drivers’ education and SAT prep classes, Devin was getting second in halfpipe at the US National Championships.
Two years later, after competing in her first full competition season, 17-year-old Devin etched her name on the world stage – collecting a halfpipe bronze medal at the European X Games in 2011. To conclude her rookie season, she earned her first U.S. halfpipe skiing title and the overall AFP title.
By 18, the skiing wunderkind was a regular on the podium at international events, tallying 12 podium finishes, which included two X Games medals and another AFP Overall Championship title. Devin’s career progressed and she excelled at both halfpipe and slopestyle. By creating a training program on both the slopes and the pipe, she achieved a unique balance between both disciplines.
Devin’s resilience and strength further defined her career when a knee injury in New Zealand left her committed to rehab and off the slopes for the 2012-2013 season. The injury came after an optimistic start to the Olympic qualifying period, as Devin had won the New Zealand World Cup halfpipe in August 2012. She remained committed to her ultimate goal, learning about her sport from a unique new angle by becoming an AFP and FIS certified judge. Devin is now back in action and found redemption from her injury by taking the win in halfpipe at the 2013 New Zealand World Cup.
As one of the few skiers that are a threat in both slopestyle and halfpipe, Devin is constantly on the go. During her brief breaks from competition and training, Devin relishes time with friends and squeezes in classes at Westminster College in Utah.
