This backpack is perfect for college students and anyone who needs to carry tons of stuff.

I can fit two hardcover textbooks, four notebooks, a couple of folders, two small library books, my laptop, my tablet AND a sweatshirt/jacket (for when the engineering building decides to simulate winter weather). Even with all of this, there is still enough space on top of all these items to carry more.

The backpack is very sturdy and the laptop-tablet compartment is rigid and foam protected. Perfect for keeping your electronics safe.

The side pocket with a zipper is ideal for storing easy to reach things like my keys or earphones. The other side compartment can hold my 1L Camelbak water bottle and probably can fit a larger one.

The small front pocket keeps my glasses protected and very accessible. Additionally, the two large compartments on the front are intercalated and add even more extra storage space. I can fit a tupperware container with my lunch in it in one pocket and other small knick knacks i might have in the other pocket.

The storage compartment for pens and pencils etc is ideal for carrying all of the usual items as well as my calculator and lab goggles with more space to carry more (I usually stuff my knee brace in there as well).

The backpack aesthetically is a little different from the usual school backpacks. It is taller than the usual and has more of a rounded rectangle/oval shape to it. At first I thought it would look weird but you grow to accept it how it is.

In terms of durability and ease of carry, I've had this backpack for only a month so I can't attest to this yet. However, it did withstand one of those spontaneous summer Pittsburgh rainstorms and successfully kept my tablet and books dry. Like I mentioned, I've filled the backpack with a bunch of heavy books, and while it eventually does cause some strain, it takes longer for it to start hurting than my old backpack (which wasn't a north face).

Overall, this product is a great find. It is a bit pricey but I believe you are going to get your money's worth.

We purchased this for our ninth grade son. He took it to school for two days. On the third day, a zipper pull literally fell off the backpack while it was on the back seat of our car on his way to school. Very disappointing considering the $130 price point.

Comments about TheNorthFace SURGE II TRANSIT BACKPACK:

This is a great looking bag and seems very durable. It's quite heavy though and the straps rub my neck a bit. Overall a great bag and quality is great.

Comments about TheNorthFace SURGE II TRANSIT BACKPACK:

I have been using North Face products for many years, from bags to jackets, and have never been let down. I purchased this backpack because when I travel I like to pack for anything that life may throw at me and this has been the perfect backpack for that. I recently moved and I was able to pack my laptop, tablet, and all their accessories with plenty of room to spare. Once again North Face shows that when you pay for quality you get it!

Comments about TheNorthFace SURGE II TRANSIT BACKPACK:

Overall It seems to be a good backpack. I honestly haven't used it yet. I purchased it to carry a laptop, iPad and CPAP machine while traveling. The main pocket was too tight to accommodate the CPAP machine. I couldn't see if TSA was going to accept me leaving computer and IPAD in the pack through security which was the main reason I purchased the bag.

Comments about TheNorthFace SURGE II TRANSIT BACKPACK:

This is a great back. I love the laptop AND iPad sleeve. Also love the way the backpack is organized with the different pockets and side pockets. This makes it easy to keep files segregated and organized. The lay flat feature of the laptop pocket is a great help with airport security. I wonder why others who fumble with their laptops don't get a North Face. Only items that are shortfalls is the lack of a second water bottle pocket (not sure why they didn't just throw one on top of the zippered side pocket), and the flimsy top carrying loop. Otherwise a a really great bag.

Comments about TheNorthFace SURGE II TRANSIT BACKPACK:

I bought this backpack because I just started college. It has room for everything and it's very durable.

I once was drinking a glass of orange juice with the maximum amount of pulp (best stuff ever) and I accidentally had placed it on the edge of my nightstand and it fell all over my backpack... None of the OJ seeped through the bag, it came off clean and easy, didn't leave any stains, and everything (INCLUDING my Macbook Pro) was safe.

Comments about TheNorthFace SURGE II TRANSIT BACKPACK:

Removing the second water bottle pocket is a deal killer. As a commuter the second pocket is a necessity for an umbrella. The Surge II removed this pocket. Quality has also gone down.
