Warm Weather Trail Running Clothing
Whether you're new to trail running or you're an experienced ultra racer, we've got the clothing and accessories to keep you moving. When running in warm weather, consider the following:
- Moisture-wicking clothing: Lightweight, breathable t-shirts, tank tops, and active bottoms can wick away sweat and help keep you cool. Explore our quick-drying shirts for more options.
- Hat: A hat will not only protect your face, but also shield your eyes from the sun's harsh rays. A ballcap style is a versatile classic.
- Hydration Vest: A running vest is a hands-free alternative to a hydration pack that keeps water close by. Our vests can also hold additional essentials in zip pockets as well as trekking poles.
- Compression tights or shorts: Compression offers added muscle support.
Winter Trail Running Options
Braving the cold and snow? In addition to hydration, consider these trail running options:
- Layers: A moisture wicking shirt makes for an excellent base layer. However, a layer on top can also help keep you warm while still helping to manage sweat. Choose a fleece pullover or lightweight insulated jacket.
- Waterproof or windproof jacket: A waterproof or windproof outer layer is also a great choice when the weather might turn less than ideal.
- Winter Tights: Choose more insulated or fleece-lined cold weather leggings to keep your lower half warm.
- Gloves and Hat: A hat is still a must, but instead of a ballcap, take a look at a beanie. Gloves are a must to keep hands shielded from cold temperatures and prevent frostbite.
Don't Forget Trail Running Shoes
Of course, shoes are a key and, arguably, the most important part of your trail running outfit. When shopping for men's and women's trail running shoes, look for the following:
- Traction: For extra grip on terrain, particularly if you expect snow on the trail, choose shoes with aggressive tread (lugs).
- Stability: Shoes that provide stability on uneven terrain are best for protecting your feet from injuries. Our VECTIV collection offers features like carbon-fiber plates for stability and performance.
- Cushioning: Adequate cushioning is required for shock absorption. Designers of our trail shoes have paid particular attention to cushioning in our VECTIV line.
- Fit: Trail running shoes should fit snugly but allow room for toe splay.
- Water Resistance: For potentially wet conditions, look for shoes made from waterproof or water-resistant materials.
