I was looking for a light, very warm, synthetic fill jacket for spring and fall, and maybe layering in the winter. This caught my attention as TNF rates it as their warmest synthetic fill, and I fell in love with the bright turquoise colour. It fits very true to size, and the cut is shaped, comfortable and flattering. It has beautiful details and is very well constructed. A good quality product.

When first tried it on, I thought that there is no way something so light and thin can be warm enough for real winter temperatures, so I gave it a good test. I just went for an hour walk in -10 C weather with 40 kph wind wearing only this jacket and a blouse, no other layers. My friend commented to me out the way out, "will you be warm enough in that light little jacket?" I was amazed and impressed that I was absolutely toasty! I won't need much in layers under this jacket. It's light enough to be comfortable in warmer temperatures, but totally toasty and completely windproof in the true cold.

I have circulation issues and I am always cold. This jacket is completely impressive. I just ordered another one for my son for downhill skiing because he hates heavy, bulky clothing and needs something light and warm. This jacket is very deceiving. I am completely thrilled with this purchase!

Kept me warm and toasty during Montreal Hypothermic Half Marathon on 15 Feb. Really cold and windy conditions. Only downside was jacket trapped all the sweat which froze ( no problem during the marathon!) and then released in a deluge after thawing. Quite hilarious when the sweat streamed out the sleeves.
Despite this, I would recommend the jacket to anyone needing a warm, light weight, jacket for athletic events in cold windy winter conditions.
Thanks Northface for an excellent product.

WARMEST Coat I Have Ever Owned!

I would just like to thank The North Face for making such a remarkable coat. It has changed my life! I absolutely LOVE it! It is the warmest coat I have ever owned. I am 5'9" and weigh 130. I don't exactly have a lot of extra body fat, and I always get cold.

This coat keeps me SO unbelievably warm. I think it actually increases my life happiness. Where I live it can get to be -20, not including wind chill. I mostly wear it to work and around town - with a vest and other layers, if necessary.

I recently skied the Tram at Jackson Hole wearing it. It was freezing wind; but I zipped the coat over my chin and face, and pulled the hood over my helmet and was happy as a clam. I should also note - the lower part of the mountain was quite warm, so I appreciated the under arm vents to cool off. (In the photo, I unzipped the coat a little so smile LOL.)

I have it in the beautiful turquoise blue color, size medium (fits perfectly) - I have long arms and torso. It is so lightweight, and I get compliments all the time! It is stylish to wear to work at the investment firm I work at, yet functional enough to wear skiing or in my every day life.

I recently got my pickup stuck and had to carry tractor chains over my shoulder in my pretty new coat, but it is durable enough; I just cleaned it with a baby wipe and still looks brand new. I would HIGHLY recommend this coat. My parents are going to buy the same one for my sister for her birthday. I am so grateful I have this coat!

I walked into The North Face store in Boise, ID and asked the saleswoman what the warmest coat they had was and she referred me to this one. Don't let the light weight fool you! My last coat was a down puffy black North Face, which I loved, but it was not as warm - especially in the wind. I don't even care that it was $300! Thank you North Face!

I was slightly hesitant buying the Women's Plasmatic jacket, having grown up with huge, puffy winter coats all of my life. But after having purchased it, I am in love. This coat, while it may not appear to be super warm because of it's sleek appearance, is perfect for Northern Michigan winters. I've been at the top of a ski chairlift, at night, in 14 degree temps, in the wind, and not felt a thing while my friends complain about the temps. I also love the armpit vents for walks when my core area gets too hot, but the rest of my body is comfortable. Having never had those, it's really a revelation.
I'm a small person (5'4", 107lbs), and I feel great in a small, but I definitely would not get an XS because I'd be afraid I wouldn't be able to fit all of my sweaters under it.
Some have complained about the stiff lapels, and I would say they are quite stiff, but not enough of a problem that I wouldn't buy the coat.
Overall, I'm totally over the moon about this coat, and I absolutely would recommend it to people in colder climes.

          Not Warm Enough

I like the looks and feel of this jacket. But it is not as warm as other North Face jackets I have purchased for less money. In fact, I find that I grab my very old North Face if it is cold and windy and use this Plasmatic on nicer days.

If you live in a cold climate (I am in Minneapolis) you might want to consider buying a larger size than normal so you can wear something under this jacket for added warmth.

Everyone I know had a North Face coat, except me, so I finally broke down and spent the money on one, and am I glad I did.... This jacket is phenomenal! I am known for always being cold, even when its like 70 degrees outside. This jacket keeps me so warm! I wear it all the time, I LOVE it! It was by far the best investment I've ever made. I'm tempted to buy another one. If I wear 3-4 layers underneath it to the barn I'm good in weather down to about 10 degrees, which for me is saying a LOT.

I bought this for my wife for Christmas and she loves it. It has great lines and it's not bulky at all. Even though it is incredibly warm it still contours to her figure for a very feminine look. All the pockets are easily accessible and the detachable hood allows for more flexibility. It's a classy looking jacket without all the extra fluff that a lot of women's models have.

I just love my new North Face jacket. It feels so good when on, because it is so lightweight yet, warm. I can wear it when shopping through the stores and even when driving without feeling all bundled up.
