I normally buy north face products as a necessity for work since I work outdoors 180 plus days a year in hot weather and freezing weather as a forestry surveyor. The lightest north face shoe I wear is the gore tex hedge hog trail runner as a necessity because of harsh wet terrain, but I was looking for a nice every day summer/hot weather trainer and I found the ultra kilowatt trainer to be a perfect shoe for every day use. I live in El Paso Tx and Chicago both have nasty summer s chicago is hot and humid and El Paso is just plain hot. These shoe are very breathable lightweight and comfortable, I train 4 time a week and this is only shoe I need at the gym but this shoe goes beyond the gym this shoe looks good is comfortable and very well ventilated, this is all I wear lately I had a chance to put these though some boulder hopping and craig climbing at Hueco Tanks this weekend and they were just flawless. The shoe kept my feet cool and dry. I highly recommend this shoe for training and hot weather and light hiking.

I purchased the Ultra Kilowatt gray/zinnia size 10 on July 20th, received them July 25th and started wearing them the next day. Thought I had found the perfect shoe for light hikes...but after about 10 treks I noticed the fabric was starting to tear where it meets the rubber toe guard. Very disappointed in this product. Never have I had a shoe fall apart after 10 wearings. Unexceptionable North Face.

Comments about TheNorthFace MEN’S ULTRA KILOWATT TRAINER:

The Kilowatt shoes have been my everyday shoe I wear to work for the last month or 2. It's nice having a comfortable shoe I can come home from work and keep wearing when its time to go for a run or work out. These are super comfortable and lightweight. They have held up very well the last 2 months I've been wearing them.

I really like these shoes. I have used them on quite a few 10 mile hikes and have had zero problems with them. They are also super comfortable so there isn't that issue of having a sore foot halfway through the hike. They have also been a great approach shoe too! #tnflocals

Comments about TheNorthFace MEN’S ULTRA KILOWATT TRAINER:

Comforable shoes that are POORLY MADE. Not durable at all, mesh tearing where it meets rubber toe guard after two months (see picture). Based on other reviews, this is common and a MAJOR product defect.

Have contacted NF who has promised to refund my money. NF makes great clothing, but stay away from their shoes.

Stick with established brands such as Nike, New Balance, Addidas, etcc

Similar to others, After three months the fabric was starting to tear where it meets the rubber toe guard. Very disappointed in this product. Was told that it was great for running and hiking, which was completley NOT TRUE. I've never have d a shoe fall apart after 3 months. What's worse, NF will NOT give me a cash refund, even though this is a manufacture defect. If you want shoes, stick with Nike, Addidas, New Balance, etc. Avoid NF

Comments about TheNorthFace MEN’S ULTRA KILOWATT TRAINER:

First bought the shoe and it was honestly the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn. I liked them so much that I actually placed another order for the same shoe 2 weeks later figured I will have another pair when these wear out (and they were on a big sale). After a month of wear I am utterly disappointed in the shoe. The fabric started to tear near the toes. I contacted NF and they sent me a replacement. Fine. Figured that is it old pair had a flaw. Guess what happened a month later? Same issue. The fabric is a design flaw, they should reinforce the toe area better cause if it were not for that, this would be the best shoe I have ever owned. This is not a deal breaker for me since their customer service is outstanding, but I will wait until there are reviews for the shoe first before buying them.

This shoe wore out quicker than any shoe I have ever owned. It started to develop holes in the top of the shoe after only a handfulk of wearings. I will never by North Face shoes again.

Comments about TheNorthFace MEN’S ULTRA KILOWATT TRAINER:

I work in rugged climates. This will be my last and only purchase. As a former U.S. Marine and then some, I have went through so many combat, desert boots to hiking shoes. This pair of shoes exceeds my expectations, very mobile for the soles when it comes to rugged terrain and weather conditions. It's a must buy.

Comments about TheNorthFace MEN’S ULTRA KILOWATT TRAINER:

I swooned over these shoes for weeks before convincing myself (and my wife) they were worth $120. They are very comfortable shoes and the grip from the Vibram sole is great. However, the mesh upper is junk. After owning these for three months, with a normal amount of wear on them, I can see my sock through holes where the now shredded mesh meets the toe cap. I would not suggest paying $120 for these shoes. Dissatisfied.

The soles promote full foot activity and give an athletic feel. I work as a personal trainer and these are great for 8 hours on your feet demonstrating different exercises. Only a few weeks old but they seem like solid training sneakers.
