Once again, the Paramount II Convertible pants are the perfect thing for hiking, even in this cold weather. As comfortable as any jeans I own, these pants, with the many pockets, are perfect for hiking. I can store the items I want quick access to instead of keeping them in my backpack _ compass, knife, flashlight, snacks _ all right within reach.

Once the warmer weather arrives (hopefully soon!!) , being able t switch them over to shorts is an added bonus. If your hiking adventure starts out on a cool morning and the day warms up, you can easily switch over to shorts. And with the zipper near the bottom of the pant leg, you don't even have to take off your boots!!! I also wear them while kayaking, as the water doesn't absorb like it would if I wore jeans.

I can't imagine owning any other brand. I've had a few, but these remain the best!!! Thanks for a great product.

I wish I could give this item a great review. The previous version of the Paramount Peaks were my favorite go-to pants. They were sturdy, reliable, and the pockets were excellent. I still wear two pairs of them.

Frankly this revision is inferior in every important aspect. The fabric and the belt (!) feels cheap and unsubstantial, the side-entry front pockets are badly engineered (try using them for your mobile phone) and the fit is even awkward. I am beyond disappointed. Does anyone know where I might score 10 pair of the previous version? Please?

Comments about TheNorthFace MEN'S PARAMOUNT PEAK II CONVERTIBLE PANTS:

These are the zip-offs you want, trust me! -- This is my 5th pair, and they have been with me from the Yukon to the jungles of Guyana. All the features of a zip off you want - color coded left-right legs, deep tough pockets, quick dry yet tough fairly thick material (still cool enough!)

Improved buckle on the built-in belt makes me very happy - because that was the only old flaw - the spring in the older buckle would break after a few years. Not an issue now, because it is GONE - replaced by a simple hook style buckle.

I wear these everywhere - to work or to play!

    Paramount Cargo Pant

Comments about TheNorthFace MEN'S PARAMOUNT PEAK II CONVERTIBLE PANTS:

I order 2 pair online and am disappointed the design of these has changed. I have worn Paramount Cargo pants exclusively for years now but this latest design will be returned. The side pockets have shifted to the front...which I don't like. The cargo pockets on the side of the legs are now smaller than before and I can no longer put items there that I carry in the older versions which is a huge problem for me. AND...overall the pant seems to have gone through a cost reduction to maintain the same price point. It just doesn't exude the same level of quality as the previous versions. Too bad ...because now I have to source another brand of cargo pant that meet my requirements :(

Comments about TheNorthFace MEN'S PARAMOUNT PEAK II CONVERTIBLE PANTS:

This is my second pair of Paramount convertible pants.

My #1 priority is comfort especially after long hours on the trail and these pants provide that in spades. The fabric is durable, and not easily stained; the pants do not easily show dirt, nor do they fray prematurely.

The newer style front pockets are smaller than previous Paramounts I have owned and they are front opening pockets as compared to side opening pockets on previous pants. Initially I prefered the the old style side opening pockets but the smaller front pockets (less material) also help inhance the overall comfort level of the pant and for that reason alone I am more than satisfied with the design.

There are cargo pockets on both legs with ample space for any items you might want on your person. These pockets and the rear pockets are Velcro sealed so items stay where they are stowed.

There is a nice zippered side pocket for security and much larger than on previous pants. The pants come with an adjustable belt plus belt loops if there is a desire to add a personal belt. The zippered off legs have a nice overlap to keep grit and rain off the zippers.

Overall I am very pleased with the pants and hope to get years of trekking with them. First official hike is the Haute Route through the Swiss Alps.

Comments about TheNorthFace MEN'S PARAMOUNT PEAK II CONVERTIBLE PANTS:

I'm 6'8" tall and 300 pounds, and always have (had) difficulties finding pants, especially a pair of hike pants. I ordered these and they are great, nice fit, comfortable and perfect material to go for hikes. I ordered the 3XL LONG and will order more in the future, as I will also order more shoes/boots etc that fit perfect (size 14). If you are a tall boy you cant go wrong although keep in mind that they are loose fit, so if you're a skinny guy you might find them too big for 3XL then just go for the 1 or 2XL LONG. Thank you North Face to manufacture clothes for the TALL man!

      Paramount Peak II Convertible pants

Comments about TheNorthFace MEN'S PARAMOUNT PEAK II CONVERTIBLE PANTS:

Overall great pair of pants. right off the bat I can tell these pants will last forever and withstand the punishment I plan on giving them. Took them on a short break in hike last weekend; rain, 34 degrees and windy. My legs stayed warm and dry without a base layer. Love the color coded leg zips! Plenty of ankle zipper length to take off over boots. I'm 5'9" 195lbs with a stocky build the Large waist /Short inseam fit perfect. Only two things I would add a gusseted crotch for high stepping over logs and a utility pocket on the right thigh for cell phone or flashlight.

Comments about TheNorthFace MEN'S PARAMOUNT PEAK II CONVERTIBLE PANTS:

These are my go to weekend pants! Perfect for taking the kids to the park or playing around home. In WI they are wind resistant enough to help on cold days and yet light enough to wear year round. I also like them when I need to layer up for winter construction site visits- they are perfect for wearing long underwear under and keeping me warm!
