Since its founding in 2010, The North Face Explore Fund provides grants to organizations working in powerful and creative ways to encourage participants to experience outdoor activities and develop an enduring appreciation of the outdoors. By giving back through the fund’s annual grants we seek to inspire and enable the next generation of outdoor explorers and conservationists. In addition to supporting hundred of nonprofit organizations around the U.S, the program also operates in Canada and eight European countries from Spain to Poland.
CAMPUS CHALLENGE is a millennial-led movement reconnecting youth to the outdoors with a vision toward systemic social change. The North Face is the title sponsor of the OUTDOOR NATION CAMPUS CHALLENGE. This initiative is investing in university campuses across the U.S. by empowering students and staff to change the way their communities engage in the outdoors. Outdoor Nation is awarding $50,000 to the ten schools with the best ideas to engage more people in outdoor recreation.
HOT PLANET/COOL ATHLETES
HOT PLANET/COOL ATHLETES connects high school students with our most powerful messengers – our athletes. Through a partnership with PROTECT OUR WINTERS, our professional athletes share firsthand accounts of how climate change is affecting their sport, making climate change digestible for high school students. The empowering multi-media presentation also offers tools for taking action. Since 2011, ten of our athletes have reached 17,000 high school youth in 11 states and Canadian provinces.
