What if I have my own ChampionChip®?
Please bring your ChampionChip® to ChampionChip® booth at the Start/Finish on Saturday. We will need to scan your chip along with your bib number in order to activate it for the Endurance Challenge.
How can I purchase additional hot meal tickets?
All runners will receive Accelerade, water and refreshments at the Finish Line Festival. Accelerade 50K and 50 Mile finishers will receive a free hot meal. If you are running the 10K or Half Marathon and would like a hot meal, you can purchase one for $15 online when registering with Active.com. You may also purchase hot meal tickets for $15 at packet pickup or, while supplies last, for $15 at the Finish Line Festival (cash only).
What is the official charity of The North Face Endurance Challenge?
KARNO KIDS is a non-profit 501c3 that provides direct financial support to organizations and programs that are focused on improving the health and wellness of our youth, and restoring and preserving the environment and urban open spaces. KARNO KIDS works with a select number of quality organizations and programs that support this vision in an accountable and quantifiable manner. Is The North Face Endurance Challenge walker friendly?
Only the 10K and Accelerade 50K are "walker friendly" events, provided all participants complete the respective distances by the course cutoff times. See Aid Station section for on-course cutoff times.
Is there a course cutoff time?
Yes, participants must complete the course in the following times:
10K: 2 hours
Half Marathon: 4 hours
Accelerade 50K: 9 hours
50 Mile: 13 hours
Are there cuffoff times on-course?
Yes, please check back for details.
Do you offer any other race distances the same race weekend?
No, there are no other distances during The North Face Endurance Challenge.
Where are bathrooms located?
Bathroom facilities are available at the Start/Finish Line area. Bathroom/Port-A-Potty locations will be clearly marked on-course maps.
Can someone else pick up my bib number and race packet?
Race numbers will only be given to family, friends or anyone else other than the participant with a photocopy of the participant’s government-issued photo I.D. No exceptions will be made.
What if I cannot participate once I have registered?
All race participant purchases are final. If you cannot participate, the entry fee will not be refunded and cannot be transferred to the 2009 race or another competitor. With written request, we will be happy to ship your 2008 race bag. Send us your request via e-mail or snail mail and include your name, street address, sex, age, phone number and shirt size.

What if the event is cancelled?
The North Face Endurance Challenge will take place rain or shine. Only force majeure will cancel the event. In the event of a force majeure, there will be no refunds or credits applied to future events.
How can I confirm that I am registered?

For mail/fax registrations, please allow 2 weeks for your registration to be processed. You will receive an e-mail confirming that your registration is complete.
What is the deadline for mail in entries?
Mail-in entries must be post-marked by August 6, 2008.
What do I receive with my entry fee?
- Entry to selected race (10K, Half Marathon, Accelerade 50K or 50 Mile)
- The North Face technical shirt
- The North Face VaporWick™ head wear
- The North Face technical running socks
- The North Face E50 bottle holder (Accelerade 50K and 50 Mile runners only)

Can I run with headphones?
Yes, ZUNE and other audio device use is permitted.
Where on the course can my friends/family watch the race?
We recommend having your friends/family watch the race at the Start/Finish Line area or near the Aid Stations clearly marked as spectator-accessible on the course map.
How do I volunteer?
Volunteers are needed for the Start/Finish area, on-course Aid Stations, Finish Line Festival and medical stations. All volunteers will receive a free Endurance Challenge shirt and will be entered to win a The North Face gear package. Please contact volunteers@hawkeyeww.com to get involved.
Do I need to qualify to enter?
No, The North Face Endurance Challenge is open to everyone. For your safety and the safety of others, there will be Aid Station cutoff times that you will need to meet in order to continue in the race.
Will there be a lost and found?
Yes, all lost and found items will be at the Gear Bag Check Area.
Are pacers permitted?
Yes, pacers are permitted but must adhere to the following rules:
- Pacers are not allowed on the course prior to mile 27 (thus, no pacers in 10K or Half Marathon races).
- Pacers cannot meet runners at locations other than those designated (see the Aid Station section).
- Pacers must check in and sign a release waiver at designated Aid Stations when joining their runner.
- Pacers must wear a bib number provided by Aid Station staff.
- Pacer numbers must be visible on the outside and front of clothing.
- Runners can be accompanied by only one (1) pacer at a time.
- No pacers are allowed on-course prior to first Aid Station designated for meeting runners.
- No “muling” (pacers carrying runner’s gear or nutrition/fluids).
- No vehicular or bike pacing allowed.
- When leaving their runners, pacers are required to check in at an Aid Station (see Aid Station chart) before leaving the course. Failure to check in will result in automatic disqualification of their runner.
- Violating any of these rules will result in runner disqualification.
Can I use a Crew?
Yes. Crews are permitted for the Accelerade 50K and 50 Mile only and must adhere to the following rules:
- Crews must administer support only at specially designated, crew-accessible Aid Stations (see Aid Station section).
- Crews must follow the directions given by Aid Station staff on where to set up and assist their runners.
- Violating any of these rules will result in runner disqualification.
What if I am unable to finish the race?
Any runner dropping out of the race must notify a volunteer at a staffed Aid Station and MUST check in with the Race Director at the Start/Finish area. The athlete will be responsible for paying a large bill if a Search and Rescue team is sent out on their behalf and they are not on-course.
Is there a prize purse?
In the 50 Mile race only, cash prizes will be given to the top three male and female finishers in the following manner:
1st place male $1,000 1st place female $1,000
2nd place male $600 2nd place female $600
3rd place male $350 3rd place female $350
In addition to the $1,000 prize, the overall 1st place male and female finishers in the 50 Mile race will receive round-trip airfare, a two (2) night hotel stay and a complimentary entry into the Endurance Challenge National Championship in San Francisco, CA, on December 6, 2008.
At the Endurance Challenge National Championship, the 1st place male and female finishers in the 50 Mile race will receive the largest single prize in trail ultra running: $10,000 each and will be crowned champions of the 2008 The North Face Endurance Challenge. Second place male and female finishers will receive $4,000 each and third place male and female finishers will receive $1,000 each.
