“Hot Planet, Cool Athletes”: The North Face® worked with Protect Our Winters and the Alliance for Climate Education to develop the “Hot Planet, Cool Athletes” program. The program brings professional snowboarders and skiers from The North Face and other sponsors to high schools across the country to co-present a winter-themed climate change assembly highlighting the effects of climate change on the winter sports world. Our goal is to work together to inspire students to curb the causes of climate change in their lives and schools.
Extreme Ice Survey:The North Face is working with James Balog and Extreme Ice Survey to communicate the effects of climate through a combination of time-lapse imagery and cutting-edge science. Specifically, we have partnered with EIS to create the Everest Ice Survey Project. With the help of The North Face athletes led by Conrad Anker, EIS is tracking the recession of the Khumba Ice Fall and Nare Glacier at Mt Everest.
PlanetExplore.com:In 2009, we launched an online social media platform to facilitate getting people outside by connecting them with each other and local activities.
Explore Fund:In 2010, The North Face created a grant fund dedicated supporting nonprofit, community organizations that break down barriers to getting youth outdoors.
Conservation Alliance Legacy Fund: As a founding member, The North Face contributed to campaign to raise an endowment to provide a permanent source of operational funding for the organization. Our goal is to ensure that wildland conservation remains a permanent priority for the outdoor industry.
Access Fund Land Conservation Campaign: We are a supporter of the first ever multimillion-dollar revolving loan program that provides local climbing organizations with the short-term financing and transaction expertise to act quickly to save threatened climbing areas.
At The North Face®, our sense of community extends far beyond our employees and customers. Our goal is to ignite a passion to preserve the places we explore by enabling access to outdoor activities, educating our community on the benefits of personal and environmental health and building a sustainable connection between people and the planet.
To help us reach our goals, we’ve partnered with environmental and philanthropic organizations that we both admire and trust. Together, we can go farther on our journey toward a stronger, more engaged community.
