Staying true to the styles of yesterday and encompassing the technology of today, the Steep Tech™ Down Apogee Snorkel II Jacket is the heaviest-duty jacket in the Steep Tech™ collection with down-filled warmth and a burly, nearly indestructible construction. Designed in part with The North Face® athlete and extreme skiing pioneer, Scot Schmidt, the geometric Steep Tech™ logo (lower, right-hand pocket) is derived form something Joseph Campbell (an American mythologist) used in his lectures. Schmidt says, “I believe he called it the ‘Sphere of the Physique’. It represents a healthy balance between the mind, body and soul. The outer circle represents the body. The center dot represents your soul. The line separates your ego from your source (soul).”"

Using only the highest quality goose down in all of our products, The North Face® tests each lot of down at three stages of production for loftiness, moisture resistance and ability to regain loft after compression.
The fill power of goose down is an indicator of two important features: warmth-to-weight ratio and compressibility, both critical to retain warmth and furnish comfort. True fill power is measured by placing one ounce of goose down in a graduated cylinder and measuring the volume the down occupies in cubic inches. The North Face® products are insulated with exclusive, high-fill power goose down ranging from 550 to 900 fill, which represents the highest quality down commercially available.
